What started as a glitch of Stephanie’s finger when she scanned a freelance website for a copy editor, resulted in a surprising phone call from Annette a day later.

Stephanie du Toit
Stephanie du Toit is a born and bred Capetonian. She grew up in the picturesque fisherman’s village of Hout Bay, nestled between mountains and dense forests, a few kilometres away from Cape Town.
Having lived through the apartheid era and witnessing the transformative leadership of Nelson Mandela, she was profoundly shaped by South Africa’s evolving political landscape. As a debut South African author, Stephanie drew inspiration for her first novel, Cold Fire, Alchemy of a Broken Curse (2024), from her personal paranormal experiences. Her writing weaves together romance, crime, fantasy, and adventure into a rich tapestry of storytelling.
In 2024, she was a finalist in the Stellenbosch Word Festival Short Story Competition.
Annette du Toit
Annette du Toit, born in Swaziland, has a deep-rooted affection for rural life, having spent her formative years on farms and in small towns. Her love for reading was ignited at an early age, and she devoured books of all genres, laying the foundation for her future literary pursuits.
Annette’s passion for writing children’s books was sparked by her desire to craft engaging stories for her grandchildren. Although these early works were never published, they allowed her creativity to flourish without restraint, nurturing her imagination and storytelling skills.
Annette resides on a picturesque farm near Hluhluwe, a quaint town in Zululand, surrounded by her loved ones. She lives with her son Pierre, while her daughter Monique, grandchildren Devan and Liane, and Mother Pat Strydom are nearby, providing a supportive and loving environment.
